In Crimea they are going to reconcile the reds and whites
A monument to the reconciliation of representatives of the Red and White movements, participants in the Russian Civil War of 1917-1922, should be erected in Crimea.
Chairman of the All-Israel Association of Russian Community Mikhail Raif said this, speaking at the International Humanitarian Libyan Forum, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Rife, the monument should be erected to mark the centenary of the exodus of whites from the Russian Empire.
“The International Council of Russian Compatriots, the first and only international public organization of compatriots, has put forward the idea of creating a monument of reconciliation in Crimea next year, where the centenary of the exodus is celebrated. This monument in the idea of MSRS, an idea expressed by Count Sheremetyev and Prince Lobanov-Rostovsky, personifies the unity, consent, and reconciliation of the people. It is very important for compatriots, especially for the first wave of emigration.
There is a presidential decree on this issue, there is a resolution of the 5th World Conference of Compatriots in Moscow. The project has not yet been completed and I want the support of the forum participants to complete the creation of this monument,” said Reif.
One of the initiators of the creation of the monument, director of the Russian cultural and educational social center “Istok” in Great Britain, Prince Nikita Lobanov-Rostovsky recalled that the idea of installing the monument was approved ten years ago, but since then it has not moved forward.
“Next year will be our very significant sixth meeting here. And then we will celebrate not only the hundredth anniversary of the exodus, but I would like to return to the topic of the monument to reconciliation. Ten years ago, Count Sheremetyevo and I were walking along Grafskaya Embankment with Mr. Tabachnikov and we decided to approach President Putin about creating a monument of reconciliation.
A resolution was sent from the president and was also subsequently approved by Mr. Aksenov. So far, none of this has been done. “I ask those who are close to the levers of power to ultimately implement the president’s directive and erect this monument in Kerch, as was indicated earlier,” Lobanov-Rostovsky said.
Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, who was present at the forum, promised that the authorities would join in solving this problem.
“We heard you. The President of the Russian Federation, after this proposal was made, gave instructions to the Ministry of Culture. Unfortunately, the minister is not with us today for good reasons. But the Ministry of Culture is working on this issue. Sergei Valerievich is in control.
Right now I am giving instructions, Zinaida Fedorovna Dragunkina, to you and Ilyas Magomed-Salamovich, upon your return, to consider this issue at a committee meeting, to hear how the Ministry of Culture plans to implement this, in what time frame, in what state the project itself is.
An absolutely correct proposal, in my opinion. Of course, it requires discussion, discussion. But I instruct you that at our 6th forum Nikita Dmitrievich speak and say: “Thank you for hearing me and for making such a monument.” Let's try to implement this. Sergey Valerievich (Aksenov, - aut.), and we ask you to also take this issue under control.”
Thank you!
