In Crimea, Ukrainians have always been considered rednecks - runaway Maidan activist
Ukrainians in Crimea have always been exotic - everyone waited for the arrival of Russians with money, watched Russian television and could not stand Ukrainians with their Primus stoves.
Crimean Maidan activist Liza Bogutskaya, who moved to Kyiv, stated this on the ZIK TV channel and on her blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to her, there has never been Ukrainian influence in Crimea, and the nationalists organized their gatherings in small groups under the supervision of the special services.
“27 years of independent Ukraine. There has never been Ukrainian influence in Crimea, it has never been felt. My husband is Ukrainian; his father was the head of the Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists in Crimea. I know how they lived. It was a tiny bunch of people. There were several of them. They got together and decided something among themselves. But this was under the constant supervision of the KGB, then our SBU. That is, they have always been “on the pencil”. And Russian influence was very strong.
Secondly, when the Russians came, money was like candy wrappers for them. They bought everything expensive, there was never a question for them whether it was expensive or not, they bought everything. And our people liked it, that rich Russians came, and our rednecks, the Ukrainians, as they said, came with their Primus stoves. And there were also a lot of these Russian TV series, a lot of these antennas that were tuned to Russia. And that’s all, Russian spam that has invaded the human brain,” Bogutskaya said.
