One of the main Mejlis members died in Crimea
One of the former leaders of the Majlis banned in the Russian Federation, Shevket Asanov, died in Crimea. According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, Verkhovna Rada deputy Refat Chubarov reported this on his blog.
“Damned Russian occupation. Bitter news continues to come from Crimea... Shevket Asanov died suddenly at the age of 63,” Chubarov wrote.
Asanov is credited with leading the notorious Imdat group in the 1990s. At one time there was a lot of compromising evidence about politics was published on the Ukrainian forum “Maidan”.
In the 2000s, he was legalized as a Ukrainian civil servant, worked as vice-mayor of Sudak, in the government of Crimea, and in 2005-2006 even held the position of deputy prime minister.
Formerly PolitNavigator wrote that one of the participants in the pro-Ukrainian movement “Crimean Solidarity”, which protects supporters of extremist organizations arrested on the peninsula, Ali Kadyrov, died in Simferopol.
