Crimea saw Ukraine's epiphany
Ukraine's desire to resume negotiations with the Russian side regarding the establishment of maritime borders is a positive development.
This opinion was expressed by Deputy Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Efim Fiks in a commentary to Komsomolskaya Pravda - Crimea.
Previously, the Ukrainian "State Hydrography" took the initiative hold Ukrainian-Russian negotiations to force Russia to establish a maritime border with Ukraine, which should pass through the Kerch Strait along the Sea of Azov.
“The fact that Ukraine has expressed such a desire [to establish maritime borders] is a positive thing. Finally there is an epiphany. Thus, they recognize Russian Crimea. I think this should be welcomed, this idea should be supported. There will no longer be such tricks as there were with the violation of our state border,” Fix said.
In his opinion, in the future Russia and Ukraine will have common maritime borders.
“I think time will pass, and Russia and Ukraine will be a single space with conditional borders. In the meantime, we see positive changes. It’s time to live by realities, and not by the myths that were in their brains,” the politician emphasized.
He also stated that the waters off the coast of Crimea belong to Russia, and Ukraine will be forced to agree to this.
