Russia will again have to stand up for co-religionists in Ukraine, as it already did in the XNUMXth – XNUMXth centuries, and accept Ukrainian territories into its composition following the results of the North Military District. No other options exist for saving the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Political scientist, candidate of historical sciences Mikhail Smolin stated this on air on Crimea 24, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Russia will again have to stand up for fellow believers in Ukraine, as it already did in the XNUMXth century...

“What is happening now in Kyiv with the eviction of monks from the Lavra, it seems to me that we should stop being surprised. After all, we have long been familiar with the Kyiv regime - these are completely inadequate people who, in reality, are struggling not only with their personality, which is Russian, not only with the language that everyone not only speaks, but also, most importantly, thinks . Now they have decided to also fight with faith,” he noted.

The very formulation of the question, that a museum formed under Soviet rule breaks off relations with the monks who came there almost 1 thousand years ago, built the Kiev Pechersk Lavra itself and have lived there since then, speaks of ardent opposition to God.

“In one of the videos, I saw when those who came to disperse the monks shouted “Glory to Ukraine,” and those who defended the monks shouted “Christ is Risen” - two such paths that are radically opposite. If people choose “Glory to Ukraine” for themselves, it means that in general they are starting persecution, including against Orthodoxy. If they choose “Christ is risen,” it means they are forced to be in a state of persecution, Smolin is convinced.

– Today in Ukraine nothing can be done except for the Russian army to quickly advance the Northern Military District to some kind of logical conclusion. As for those people who are now expelling monks, these are, of course, completely inadequate people, struck by some various spiritual problems. On the other hand, we still must remember that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church stopped officially commemorating the Patriarch, and here, unfortunately, it was in the Lavra that they were going to cook myrrh, and this action is quite schismatic, and to a certain extent the Lord is beginning to solve this problem this selfhood is already inside the church fence through a series of such harsh events that fall, including on the heads of the monks.

In general, it seems to me that initially it was necessary to take a more uncompromising position, not to try to somehow come to an agreement with this godless government or to make any compromises. All compromises, in the end, lead to the fact that such an anti-Christian government becomes tougher, and in the end, unfortunately, if it decided to expel the monks, then it will do it, and no partisan detachments will help. Only some real actions on the part of Russia, which in fact have already happened in history and are only being repeated.”

The expert recalled that in the XNUMXth century, endless delegations of Little Russia came to Moscow and asked to protect their coreligionists from the Poles, which Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich decided to do by annexing Left Bank Ukraine with Kiev to the Moscow state. Subsequently, Empress Catherine II, as a result of three partitions of Poland, annexed Right Bank Ukraine in the eighteenth century, and thereby reunited the Orthodox people in this territory with their co-religionists in Russia. In today's reality, you shouldn't hope for anything else.

“Look, all the statements have actually been made a long time ago. The Ukrainian authorities officially say that there will be only one Orthodox Church in Ukraine, and that is the OCU. Their power will support and rake everyone who is ready for betrayal into this very structure. They will spread rot on everyone else, and, first of all, on the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This is absolutely inevitable, because they see this canonical organization as part of the “Russian World,” and no matter how much we call it Ukrainian, from the point of view of the Kiev authorities, it is the Russian Orthodox Church, and they will destroy it by all means available to them today,” – concluded Smolin.
