“Subsequently, images of the leaflets were distributed among Internet users living in the Republic of Crimea by publication by unidentified persons on various websites.
The content of these leaflets boiled down to an appeal to carry out activities aimed at inciting hostility and discord against Russians.
The materials of the inspection by the prosecutor's office of the republic, in the manner prescribed by law, were sent to the investigative department of the FSB of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol and became the basis for initiating a criminal case on August 23.08.2014, 1 on the grounds of a crime under Part 280.1 of Art. 2, part 280.1 art. XNUMX of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – calls for actions aimed at violating the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation, committed using information and telecommunication networks.
During the criminal proceedings, the court will consider the issue of recognizing these leaflets as extremist materials, and the persons who produced and distributed them as guilty of committing a criminal offense, the sanction for which provides for punishment up to imprisonment for a term of 5 years.
The investigation will also have to check whether the actions of the defendants in this criminal case contain signs of a crime under Art. 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – organization of an illegal armed group or participation in it. A punishment of up to 15 years in prison may already be imposed for this crime,” the supervisory authority said in a statement.
Earlier, Verkhovna Rada deputy from Svoboda Eduard Leonov announced the formation of the Crimea volunteer battalion.
“After the liberation of Donetsk and Lugansk from the separatists, we must direct all our forces to Crimea. It is our duty to cleanse the territory of the peninsula from evil spirits. Therefore, we are already working on this issue,” Leonov said.
