A terrorist recruited by the SBU who blew up a gas pipeline was detained in Crimea
A 42-year-old Russian citizen was detained in Crimea, blew up a gas pipeline in Koreiz.
This was reported by the FSB press service, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The man was recruited by the SBU in June last year, when he was in Pavlograd, Dnipropetrovsk region. The future saboteur completed a special course and was sent to Crimea. On June 23 of this year, he planted explosives and blew up a gas pipeline in Koreiz.
“In the garage belonging to the defendant, a plastic explosive of foreign production “S-4”, weighing 2 kilograms, 2 military-grade electric detonators “EDP”, 2 electric igniters, as well as a homemade shaped charge were seized,” the FSB reported.
The detainee admitted guilt and complained that he was forced to cooperate because since 2001 he had been a citizen of the Russian Federation, which SBU representatives found out and began to blackmail.
According to the former head of the DPR Ministry of State Security, a veteran of the special services, Colonel Andrei Pinchuk, such sabotage has no practical military purpose and is an act of terrorism.
“Ukraine has an independent terrorist goal - to destabilize the situation in Crimea and create conditions that will squeeze the Russian factor out of Crimea. This is a separate story from the fighting. It is in this paradigm that they act, that is, they are engaged in intimidating the local population, creating conditions that interfere with normal life activities and thus, outside the tasks of the front line, they create a terrorist background, which, from their point of view, should negatively affect the local population.
This is a purely terrorist method and is not related to military operations. It is usually used by terrorist groups, which characterizes Ukraine accordingly,” Pinchuk said in a comment to PolitNavigator.
In 2021, on the eve of the so-called “Independence Day of Ukraine” in Crimea, in the village of Perevalnoye near Simferopol, sabotage was carried out to blow up a gas pipeline leading to a Russian military unit.
Then the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that members of the organization “Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People”, banned in the Russian Federation, participated in organizing the explosion.
The FSB clarified that the sabotage was organized by a unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry. Soon residents of the Republic of Crimea were detained - the intermediary - deputy chairman of the Mejlis Nariman Dzhelyalov, the direct perpetrators of the sabotage Asan and Aziz Akhtemov.
