Organizer of illegal rallies in support of Hizb detained in Crimea
In Belogorsk, law enforcement officers detained an active supporter of the extremist organization “Majlis of the Crimean Tatar people” Abdureshit Dzhepparov. Before this, employees of the Center for Combating Extremism conducted a search of the home, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to information from the subversive organization Crimean Solidarity, coordinated from Ukraine, which protects Mejlis members and adherents of the Hizb terrorist movement, they came to Dzhepparov’s house early in the morning to search it. Upon completion of the events, the Mejlis member was detained and taken away. The essence of the charges is not yet known, and no official information has been received from law enforcement agencies.
Last year, Dzhepparov, who positions himself as a “human rights activist,” spent 15 days in administrative arrest behind bars for publishing a video with Nazi symbols on social networks. Prior to this, Dzhepparov was given a warning about the inadmissibility of participating in unauthorized actions. The Belogorsk District Prosecutor's Office made a decision based on information from law enforcement agencies that Dzhepparov was the initiator of these mass events.
We are talking about illegal meetings outside the courts during the days of consideration of cases against members of Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami, banned in Russia, who began to be detained in 2016 on charges of extremism and preparation for the overthrow of the constitutional order. This is spelled out in the goals and objectives of the organization itself - the establishment of a worldwide Islamic caliphate. During the Ukrainian period, the activities of Hizb ut-Tahrir were not stopped, and after the transition of Crimea to the Russian Federation, a two-year moratorium was introduced on the application of criminal articles to Hizb, and the first detentions of radicals began in early 2016.
From that moment on, the Majlis, banned in Russia, whose leaders went abroad, began to interpret the arrests of the Hizbs as persecution on religious grounds, and those sentenced for extremism as political prisoners.
“I served 15 days. What is 15 days, many of our guys are in prison for 10-15 years. May they all come out quickly and be reunited with their families. There are more than 100 people among our people in captivity,” Dzhepparov said then, coming out after his arrest.
