60 bearded men detained in Crimea: Chubarov and Klimkin rush to the rescue
The head of the Mejlis, banned in the Russian Federation, Refat Chubarov, demanded at a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada today from Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin a “harsh reaction” to the mass detentions that Russian security forces carried out yesterday at the Central Market of Simferopol.

Yesterday, sources close to the Majlis announced the detention of several dozen people at the Simferopol market. After several hours they were released after being questioned, DNA samples and fingerprints taken. The arrests were related to the recent tragedy in St. Petersburg and were carried out during anti-terrorism preventive measures, the head of the Kurultai Central Election Commission, Zair Smedlyaev, said on TV channel 112.
“...We conducted a large-scale raid at the central market. They detained only those who had a non-Slavic appearance and beard, that is, Crimean Tatars. 80 people were taken out, fingerprints and DNA samples were taken. That is, Mr. Minister, how are we doing with the implementation of our joint idea, the idea voiced by the President of Ukraine to create a separate international platform for Crimea. Where, when and in what format will such a platform begin its work on Crimea, when we unite all the issues related to the restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine. Crimea, Donbass. When will this happen?” Chubarov demanded an answer from the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
To this, Klimkin replied that he had already complained to “friends” about the Russian security forces and discussed the creation of a format on Crimea: “As for yesterday’s events, we have already warned our friends and partners in order to obtain the appropriate, most severe reaction. The idea of creating a separate format concerns the idea of building it either on the GXNUMX platform with the involvement of the European Union, or with the involvement of the Geneva format. Today we have the consent of all partners, except, of course, the Russian Federation.”
