Alcohol drinks will be banned in Crimea

On Wednesday, the State Council of the Republic of Crimea adopted in the first reading a bill amending the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 6, 2014 No. 3-ZRK/2014 “On state regulation in the field of retail sale of alcoholic beverages and alcohol-containing products and on establishing restrictions on their sale on the territory of the Republic Crimea".

This was reported by the press service of the regional parliament.

The approved amendments establish a ban on the retail sale of low-alcohol tonic drinks on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan and a number of restrictions on the sale of non-alcoholic tonic drinks. In particular, now it will not be possible to buy non-alcoholic energy drinks for persons under 18 years of age on the territory of the republic’s physical education, health and sports institutions, in children’s, educational and medical organizations and places of cultural events.

According to one of the authors of the bill, Vladislav Ganzhara, the need to limit the retail sale of low-alcohol and non-alcoholic tonic drinks is due to the danger they pose to health, including that of minors.
“Unfortunately, the main group of consumers of inexpensive alcoholic drinks are young people. I am sure that a ban on their sale will save hundreds of lives of Crimeans. This initiative was widely discussed and was supported by the public of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the leadership of the republic, doctors, law enforcement agencies and entrepreneurs of Crimea,” the deputy emphasized, noting that low-alcohol tonic drinks are already prohibited in 35 constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
