Trains in Crimea will most likely run on thermal energy rather than electricity.
Transport Minister Evgeniy Dietrich stated this at a meeting with Russian senators.
“We are considering electrification projects. Expensive and complex projects. It is quite possible that we will replace electric traction with a diesel locomotive on the approaches to the bridge. And we will run long-distance trains with diesel locomotives. We will also provide suburban services with special diesel-electric trains,” Dietrich said.
According to him, the first train will cross the Crimean Bridge in December 2020.
