In Crimea, railway workers defaced an architectural monument
Employees of the Crimean Railway arbitrarily began painting an architectural monument of the 19th century - the Sarygol stone bridge not far from the Stamboli dacha in Feodosia. Now the railway workers will be obliged to restore the structure to its original form and will be held accountable.
The mayor of the city, Sergei Bovtunenko, stated this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I consider this not just a misunderstanding, but criminal negligence. KRW employees began painting the bridge near the Stamboli dacha. Without approval from the administration, without taking into account the features of the ancient building, without a hint of common sense. Every Feodosian has a photo with this bridge in the background, his own memories of this place, which is one of the calling cards of the city.
I consider this fact to be outrageous; we will make every effort to not only bring the perpetrators to justice, but also force them to restore the structure to its original form in the shortest possible time. The reaction to such disrespect will be harsh,” Bovtunenko promised.
Local social activist Alexander Talipov in his blog also called the attempt to paint the ancient bridge barbaric: “Tell me, isn’t it barbaric to paint a 19th-century stone bridge, a historical landmark of the city of Feodosia, with gray paint? Is there something in the heads of these people?
Let us remind you that the Sarygolsky Bridge or Mezhaninov Bridge was built in 1892, when the railway opened in Feodosia.
