“The State Language Center finally decided to fine me for the fact that the Riga City Council communicates in Russian on social networks (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram), said Ushakov. – Moreover, I learned about the fine not from the State Language Center itself, but from journalists.

1. I repeat once again - the Law on the State Language in no place regulates the language of communication of self-government with its residents in foreign social networks. Naturally, this illegal decision will be challenged.

2. Riga doMa will continue, as before, to communicate with its residents in the current mode, that is, in at least three languages - Latvian, Russian, English.

3. I would like to wish the State Language Center to really do what they can do - for example, think about how to call “Pokemon” in Latvian. They are not capable of anything else anyway.”
