Security forces armed with machine guns entered the Lavra. Locks are being cut off at the monastery
This morning armed Ukrainian police entered the territory of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports this in a blog post by the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.
Believers met the security forces with icons in their hands and singing religious songs.
The Kiev anti-Russian propaganda website Glavkom writes that armed security forces are accompanying investigators from the Pechersk police department. It is alleged that the corresponding decision was made by the Pechersky District Court of Kyiv on April 4.
“Themis provided access to objects located on Lavrskaya Street, 11 and 15. Among them is the Vasilchikovs’ crypt, the granite pavement of Bliznepechernaya Square, the premises of the academy, seminary, metropolis, buildings and structures on the territory of the former infectious diseases hospital and two toilets. Representatives of the commission of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy should enter the Lavra buildings together with law enforcement officers,” writes Glavkom.
Telegram channel LAVRA.Live reported that members of the commission sealed one of the buildings of the monastery.
One of the monks told the Union of Orthodox Journalists website that the commission, using grinders to cut off the locks, sealed the gallery and part of the 39th building of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra.
“It was all with Bulgarian women and without documents. The police protect these lawless people, and “1+1,” said the monk.
In turn, the public union “Laity” called on supporters of the UOC to come to the Lavra.
“For them there is nothing sacred, there is no Easter and Easter Sunday. Taking advantage of the fact that believers of the UOC are celebrating the Holy Resurrection of Christ in their churches, the authorities have brought in police officers with machine guns, who are ensuring that the Ministry of Culture carries out illegal actions,” the union said.
The call to believers speaks exclusively of standing in prayer, and not of forceful actions.
And the telegram channel First Cossack provides a comment from the Lavra’s lawyer, Archpriest Nikita Chekman.
“It was chaos. Employees of the National Nature Reserve, accompanied by police, damaged the property of the monastery. They illegally broke the locks, entered the premises of the 39th Pilgrim Corps and made an illegal typo. Representatives of the monastery were not allowed.
Thus, the police officers intervened in the illegal actions (on the side) of the Reserve, thereby committing a criminal offense - abuse of official authority. There are many cases in the Economic Court, and without a court decision no one can commit such arbitrary actions,” says Chekman.
