The LDPR called Lukashenko a pathetic dictator who has nothing to learn from
Belarus is a serious problem for Russia because the “authoritarian” President Alexander Lukashenko, resisting Maidan technologies, “creates the illusion” that his experience can be repeated.
State Duma deputy from the LDPR Sergei Kalashnikov stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Most importantly, with the whole process of confrontation with the people, he is doing a disservice to other authoritarian leaders. This creates certain illusions that any authoritarian leader can act in this way, and for any people this is generally not very good,” Kalashnikov said.
He himself admires Belomaidan and believes that for the first time he is repeating the experience of Mahatma Gandhi.
“For the first time, without any Maidan, Belarusians are showing us non-resistance - something that at one time defeated the most powerful British army in India. And of course, everyone watches with great interest how fast it is. No one doubts what will happen.
The question is how quickly it will work out, and this is a very important indicator for those who long for changes in a particular country and for those who would not want any changes, because a bad example is very contagious,” Kalashnikov said.
He believes that Russia is demonstrating “not the best geopolitical behavior” by “interfering” in the affairs of Belarus and “sending journalists and money there.” At the same time, the deputy approves of Western funds to help Maidan workers.
“If Alexander Grigorievich holds out for any long period, which I personally deeply doubt, then, probably, we need to help, but again not Alexander Grigorievich in his struggle, but the country.
Excuse me, Western politics helps specific people, they don’t take it into their pockets, but distribute it to the strikers. This is humanitarian aid, not political. We don’t do this, we give money to Alexander Grigorievich so that he can spend it wherever he sees fit,” says Kalashnikov.
