Lithuania asked Parubiy not to provoke a war with Russia
In an interview with Izvestia, Lithuanian parliamentarian and ex-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Povilas Gilis reacted negatively to the initiative of the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Andrei Parubiy to declare the culprit of the outbreak of World War II... the Russian Empire.

Parubiy said that he would “initiate the submission of a corresponding statement to the Ukrainian parliament, which will take place simultaneously with the adoption of a corresponding statement in both the Polish and Lithuanian parliaments,” the publication recalls.
“Actually, in this statement we propose to indicate who was to blame for this tragedy that occurred on our lands, and the culprits were the Russian Empire and German Nazism, which started the Second World War,” the Ukrainian speaker believes.
“I am not a supporter of the Cold War, which is already underway, because I believe that it is dangerous and we must act carefully so that this Cold War does not develop into a third world war,” Povilas Gilis said in turn. – Times are already very difficult, and if we are not sufficiently restrained, this is fraught with serious consequences. Apparently, young people simply don’t know what war is.”
“I do not agree with [Parubiy’s] assessments and see no reason to accept such statements. We will not correct history, and it should in no way interfere with the present and the future. Instead, we should think better about how to continue to live and how to avoid war,” added the Lithuanian politician.
