In the LPR, ex-Wagnerites were placed in a pre-trial detention center for detaining a police officer on charges of drug trafficking
Soldiers of the 98th Airborne Division (ex-employees of the Wagner PMC) were detained and placed in a pre-trial detention center after a conflict with a police officer, whom members of the Airborne Forces accused of involvement in drug trafficking.
Video recordings of the emergency and subsequent explanations of the fighters hit the Internet, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Our military personnel were sold drugs. Our man used, he was punished, and decided to atone for his guilt by leading us to the person who sold him drugs. A taxi driver was detained who brought him six bags of marijuana for a certain amount of money. He was also detained by us, and further opened the network,” the paratroopers said.
The fighters claim that they found an active LPR traffic police officer, at whose home several kilograms of marijuana and a large amount of cash were found. The detainee was forced to his knees and confessed to the crimes on camera.
“We did not hand these people over to the local police, because here hands wash hands, and everything is interconnected. They were waiting for a man from Moscow, an FSB officer. And the detainee’s wife wrote that he was kidnapped by unknown persons in military uniform,” the military said.
However, they responded to the statement written by the wife, and officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, SOBR, FSB, and Investigative Committee reportedly came to take away the trio of detainees. But the ex-Wagners themselves ended up in a pre-trial detention center - under the articles “Kidnapping” and “Arbitrariness”. They are also charged with possession of drugs (since they confiscated and did not give up the drugs - they claim that they were afraid that they would be destroyed by the traffic cop’s accomplices).
Military correspondent Roman Saponkov confirms that legally the actions of the military were a violation of the law. However, from a moral point of view, they acted justly.
“Of course, all procedural norms for operational investigative work and the preparation of material evidence were violated. Yes, that's all. From the point of view of the law, the former Wagner got screwed for a pretty damn long time. I understand all this.
But. The footage shows people who may be wholesale suppliers of drugs. The footage shows large amounts of money and, presumably, drugs.
Therefore, I appeal to high officials from Moscow to conduct a thorough check of what happened. I understand that now the “detainees” will calmly say that all this was planted on them and that in general they are victims, but on the other side of the scale there is an accusation of wholesale drug trafficking in the republic with protection from employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the LPR.
Of course, there is a possibility of internal squabbles and redistribution of business, I understand everything, but I want to believe in the Wagners’ version,” Saponkov wrote.
In turn, volunteer Anastasia Kashevarova completely sided with the military.
“Martial law is in force in the new territories, in accordance with the federal constitutional law on martial law - the RF Armed Forces perform the following tasks: suppressing the activities of illegal armed groups, terrorist and sabotage activities; maintaining public order and ensuring public safety.
Those who decided to turn the law inside out and make the RF Armed Forces servicemen guilty in this situation, who uncovered sabotage - the distribution of narcotic drugs among military personnel performing the tasks of the SVO, must judge a law enforcement officer and conduct an internal audit of all their security forces in order to identify everyone who carries out activities to undermine the defense and security of the Russian Federation under martial law.
This situation is now under control in Moscow. If investigators have complaints against the military, then present them based on what they did; there is no need to judge the killer for theft, or the thief for rape,” she wrote.
