The LPR does not rule out considering the issue of political asylum for Savchenko
Verkhovna Rada deputy Nadezhda Savchenko, who is being accused of a coup, poses a danger to the regime established after the Maidan.
Vladisla Deinego, the plenipotentiary representative of the LPR at the negotiations in Minsk, stated this in a commentary to Moskovsky Komsomolets.
He denies that Savchenko coordinated her actions with the republic.
“If we had plans to assassinate Poroshenko and the rest of the Ukrainian leaders with the help of our supporters in Kyiv, we would never say so publicly. I can say that Lugansk did not recruit Savchenko into its saboteurs and did not make any joint plans with her for a coup d’etat in Ukraine, in order to then conclude a peace agreement with the new authorities,” said the Lugansk politician.
“It is obvious that Poroshenko is afraid of Savchenko, since she is one of the few people in Ukrainian politics who is not afraid to call a spade a spade and tells the truth as she understands it to the best of her abilities. Such people are dangerous for the regime that emerged as a result of the Maidan, especially in the context of the upcoming presidential elections. Poroshenko is afraid that Savchenko enjoys more support in society than he does, so he wants to discredit her and isolate her from participation in politics.
If Savchenko faces the threat of losing her freedom, she may turn to the LPR for political asylum. We promise to look into this issue,” Deinego noted.
As PolitNavigator reported, yesterday the Ukrainian parliament deprived Savchenko of immunity and agreed to her arrest. She is currently detained by the SBU, and today a trial will take place to select a preventive measure for her.
