The LPR will make Russian rubles the only currency

“The multi-currency system is a temporary measure, and in the end, the only official currency will most likely remain the ruble. We assume that by the summer the ruble will significantly replace the hryvnia, since there is practically no trade turnover with Ukraine,” said LPR Finance Minister Yevgeny Manuilov, as quoted by the Lugansk Information Center.
At the same time, Manuilov noted that it would not be possible to quickly switch to rubles. According to him, first the market must be filled with Russian currency through trade turnover.
The exchange rate is planned to be set at two rubles per hryvnia.
“It was inappropriate to introduce our own currency now, since it would not have an international code, which means it would be ineffective,” Manuilov explained.
