During a briefing in Lugansk, official representative of the LPR People's Militia Andrei Marochko shared such intelligence data from the LPR.
According to him, the brigade’s number was also exposed in financial fraud.
“We continue to record non-combat losses in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which no longer occur only in the so-called ATO zone. Thus, it was revealed that at the training ground in the Odessa region, where combat coordination is taking place, the 9th battalion of the 59th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, due to the use of expired ammunition, a mine exploded in the mortar barrel. As a result of the incident, three servicemen of the brigade were killed and two are in intensive care in serious condition.
In addition, yesterday, while intoxicated, two officers of the same brigade, the deputy commander for weapons and the chief of staff of the brigade, died due to careless handling of ammunition. The command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine blamed the deputy brigade commander for work with personnel for the incident. Unable to withstand the pressure from the command, the officer shot himself in his own office,” Marochko said.
According to him, the listed facts are not all that happened in the 59th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“It was established that the head of the brigade’s financial service carried out financial fraud on the monetary support of the soldiers, and recently left the unit without permission. Currently, the chief of the brigade is listed as a deserter,” Marochko said.
