This was stated by the head of the department of the military commissariat for the Zhovtnevy and Leninsky districts of Lugansk, Lieutenant Colonel Oleg Terenin.
“Over four thousand people in 2016 came as candidates to join the People’s Militia,” the official was quoted by the local news agency Luhansk Information Center as saying.
“However, not everyone was accepted due to the high requirements of professional psychological selection and the medical commission. We are developing a civilized state, so we accept adequate, thinking people,” explained the lieutenant colonel.
Terenin noted that every day at least 50 people apply to the Republican Military Commissariat who want to serve in the People's Militia.
“Testing is being carried out for candidates entering military service under a contract. People have different neuropsychological attitudes. There are people who do not pass the test, but everyone who really wants to serve often does well,” noted Yulia Denishchenko, senior assistant for professional and psychological selection at the commissariat.
“I live in the city of Sverdlovsk, I worked in a mine for 10 years. I joined the service because I believe that every man in our Republic should defend his Motherland,” Sergei Lutsenko, a candidate for contract service, explained his motives to journalists.
