Ukrainian spy sentenced in LPR
The Supreme Court of the LPR sentenced Lisichansk resident Yuri Merzly for committing espionage for Ukraine, sentencing him to 12 years in prison.

“During the investigation, it was established that Merzly, while on the territory of Ukraine, was recruited by employees of the SBU joint operational group based in the city of Lisichansk as an agent to carry out intelligence activities on the territory of the Republic. He was assigned the pseudonym “Uman” and tasked with collecting and transmitting information of a military and socio-economic nature, as well as information regarding specific persons of interest to the SBU, including from among the LPR law enforcement officers,” the statement said. .
In addition, Merzly was involved in the work of the SBU to disinformation the LPR intelligence services.
“Acting deliberately, in accordance with received orders, under the control and direction of the SBU, Yuri Merzly deliberately conveyed false information to an employee of the Ministry of State Security. As a result of the operational search activities, Merzly was detained,” the law enforcement agency of the Republic added.
