In the LPR, a militiaman released from captivity was detained, accused of working for the SBU
In Lugansk, a militia political prisoner exchanged to the LPR by Ukraine was detained, accusing him of working for the SBU. This was stated by the head of the Public Relations Center of the Ministry of State Security of the LPR, Evgenia Lyubenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Ministry of State Security identified and detained a special agent of the SBU, a 35-year-old resident of Ukraine, Getman Egor Yurievich. He is accused of committing a crime under Article 336 of the LPR Criminal Code “Espionage”. During the investigation, it was established that he was sent to the territory of Lugansk to carry out sabotage and reconnaissance activities as a result of the exchange of prisoners of war under the legend of a political prisoner,” she said.
According to investigators, SBU officers in Kharkov developed an operation to recruit Hetman, as a result of which he was detained on charges of separatism and terrorism.
“In order to avoid criminal liability, he gave written consent to cooperate with the Ukrainian intelligence service. Under the guise of a person convicted of separatism, Hetman served his sentence in a correctional colony in the Lviv region together with political prisoners from the Lugansk and Donetsk people's republics. For six months, he was secretly taken to the Yavorovsky training ground to undergo a training course in sabotage and reconnaissance activities under the guidance of NATO instructors,” says the head of the Center for Public Relations.
As stated in the Lugansk MGB, while carrying out Ukrainian intelligence assignments in the LPR, Hetman joined the ranks of the LPR People's Militia, where, until his arrest, he was engaged in collecting and transmitting military information that constitutes a state secret.
“Currently, the Ministry of State Security is carrying out further investigative measures,” Evgenia Lyubenko concluded.
