This order was issued by the Ministry of Information, Press and Mass Communications. The department’s decision was announced today by its head, Vyacheslav Stolyarenko.
“This week, the Ministry of Information issued an order banning the broadcasting of certain TV channels on the territory of the Lugansk People’s Republic. I’ll immediately give a list - these are the Ukrainian TV channels K1, K2, M1, M2, “First National”, as well as the TV channel “Donbass” and “LOT” (Severodonetsk),” Stolyarenko said.
The minister explained that the reason for making this decision was “information messages appearing on the airwaves of these TV channels over the past two months, which are aimed at discrediting both the government of the Lugansk People’s Republic, and officials, ordinary citizens and statehood itself.”
“This order has currently been submitted for registration to the Ministry of Justice and will be published in the near future. From the date of publication it comes into force ten days later,” Stolyarenko clarified.
He emphasized that when preparing the order, the Ministry of Information interacted with the Ministry of State Security, and in terms of execution it will interact with the Ministry of Communications of the LPR.
In addition, Stolyarenko noted that another reason that prompted the restriction of the broadcast of a number of Ukrainian TV channels was that Kyiv “intensified its information attacks, the so-called “stuffing” into the information space.”
