The solemn event was attended by acting Head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the LPR Sergei Kozlov, heads of the plant and the administration of Alchevsk.
“I would like to congratulate all residents. This is probably the largest plant in our Republic,” emphasized Leonid Pasechnik.
In his opinion, the launch of a blast furnace is a truly important event for the entire republic.
“This, in my opinion, is a very significant event. It is both economic and political in nature. Thus, the economic nature is reflected in the fact that the main task of me and my entire team is to improve the well-being of all residents of the LPR without exception. My entire team and I are doing everything necessary to launch those enterprises that remain on our territory,” Pasechnik assured.
The Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works, founded in 1895, is one of the oldest enterprises in the Lugansk region, and is a city-forming plant for Alchevsk itself.
Since 2003, the plant came under the control of the Industrial Union of Donbass, which was headed by the Ukrainian oligarch Sergei Taruta.
AMK's work was stopped in August 2014 due to active hostilities in the Donbass.
