Relatives of fighters of the First Volyn Territorial Defense Battalion are protesting against the reorganization of the unit into the 99th separate motorized infantry battalion. According to them, the leadership of the operational command “North” is putting pressure on the commander of the territorial battalion so that he signs the relevant documents, reports the publication “ZIK”.
People prepared an appeal to Governor Vladimir Gunchik and Chairman of the Regional Council Valentin Vetrov with a demand not to disband the Volyn defense battalion. Also, the relatives of the fighters are asking to remain in the position of battalion commander. Otherwise, they promise to block the streets and go on a hunger strike.
“We are not demanding the return of our children. They will continue to carry out their tasks,” said the mother of one of the fighters, Ala Kozak. According to her, people fear that if disbanded, the terbat may repeat the fate of the 51st separate mechanized brigade, whose fighters are abandoned by the command to their fate.
As PolitNavigator reported, in Western Ukraine, relatives of fighters from the ATO zone regularly hold protests.
