According to the press service of the State Border Service, at about 00.30, about 100 armed people arrived at the headquarters of the Lugansk border detachment and dispersed along the perimeter of the detachment.
The first attack, using machine guns and grenade launchers, began around 4:00 and lasted about 40 minutes. The border guards repulsed her. Having redeployed, the attackers resumed their attack. This time, from positions set up in the windows of a high-rise building, snipers fired aimed fire at the border guards. The second and third waves of attack were also repulsed.
There are wounded among the border guards. The total number of attackers is, according to various estimates, from 200 to 400 people. Border guards informed the interacting units and ATO forces.
As part of the cooperation, a fighter jet was sent to help the border guards, but it was unable to conduct targeted fire in the city.
However, as ATO press secretary Vladislav Seleznev clarified, the plane still completed its task and “dispersed” the rebels.
According to Dmitry Tymchuk, coordinator of the Information Resistance group, 7 border guards were wounded during the assault.
