A memorial was opened in Lugansk in memory of the paratroopers who died defending the city.
A memorial complex to the paratroopers who gave their lives defending the LPR was opened today on the 85th anniversary of the creation of the Airborne Forces in the center of Lugansk on Oboronnaya Street. The opening ceremony was attended by leaders of the LPR.

Reportedly, the central element of the memorial complex was the airborne combat vehicle (BMD).
“We have installed BMD-1 - this is a vehicle that took an active part in the defense of our Lugansk People’s Republic,” explained the head of government.
He added that the initiators of the creation of the complex were veterans of the Airborne Forces, together with the people's militia of the LPR.
“I congratulate all the guys in blue berets on the holiday, and today, on the 85th anniversary of the creation of the airborne troops, we are opening a memorial complex that will relate to all the dead guys who gave their lives defending our land,” Tsypkalov noted.
Tsypkalov also said that the paratroopers who are currently serving in various power units and who distinguished themselves while defending the republic will be awarded commemorative medals “85th anniversary of the Airborne Forces.”
