In the first quarter of 2017, Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers fired more than 17 thousand shells and mines across the territory of the LPR.

This was announced on April 10 at a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the LPR by the acting head of the People's Militia of the LPR, Colonel Mikhail Filiponenko.
“In total, over 17 thousand shells and mines were fired across the territory of the republic. The most aggressive actions of the enemy were observed in March,” the official website of the LPR quotes Filiponenko.
He emphasized that at the moment the fire activity of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is decreasing. According to him, in the first week of April, the Ukrainian military violated the silence 23 times, firing 802 shells in the direction of the LPR. In addition, Mikhail Filiponenko noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to disrupt the withdrawal of forces and assets in Stanitsa Luganskaya and violate the Minsk agreements regarding the storage of weapons, which is recorded by OSCE observers.
