In Lugansk, on the anniversary of the storming of the SBU headquarters, a memorial plaque was unveiled to the first head of the LPR, Valery Bolotov.
Today in Lugansk, activists of public organizations unveiled a memorial plaque to the first head of the republic, Valery Bolotov, who died a few months ago in Moscow.
The memorial sign was installed on the wall of the apartment building where the former leader of the LPR previously lived; the plaque was made at the expense of his friends, relatives and comrades.

The event was timed to coincide with the anniversary of the events of April 6, 2014, when protesters in Lugansk seized the building of the Security Service of Ukraine. As a result, the Lugansk People's Republic was proclaimed at the end of April.
“The memorial plaque is a small part of what Valery Dmitrievich deserved. He was the first head of the Lugansk People's Republic, put everything he had on the line, including his own life, and, among the true patriots of his land, stood up for its defense and organized people's squads. Today, memorial plaques are already being unveiled for such people, history has already taken place, and Bolotov got into it both as the first head and as the man who took off his mask and called on people to resist. He deserved more than a memorial plaque, but this will happen over time, and today even this little is already a positive signal, given that last year his name was not mentioned at all,” ex-Speaker of the LPR Parliament Aleksey Karyakin told PolitNavigator.
“I never thought that the SBU building could be taken, but the Luhansk residents were able to do it. From that moment on, all the protests grew into the formation of a new state, and Valery was not afraid and led this entire movement,” noted one of the Anti-Maidan leaders in Lugansk, Alexander Kharitonov, at the ceremony.
