This information was reported today by Deputy Minister of State Security of the LPR Alexander Basov, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent from Lugansk.
“The Ministry of State Security of the Lugansk People's Republic detained fraudsters who presented themselves as employees of the MGB and offered residents of the Republic commercial services to resolve various types of issues of subordinate ministries. These persons were identified and detained after a resident of the city of Lugansk filed a complaint about extortion of funds by alleged MGB officers to resolve the issue of not prosecuting her son, in respect of whom the Ministry was conducting an investigation into the fact of committing a crime. For the services, the citizen handed over four thousand US dollars to the scammers.
During the verification of the stated facts, employees of the Internal Security Department of the MGB identified the criminals. They turned out to be: an investigator from the anti-smuggling department of the State Customs Committee of the LPR and a resident of the Republic who has no relation to law enforcement agencies. A preliminary investigation into this fact is being carried out within the framework of the relevant criminal case.
In order to prevent facts of corruption, fraud and other offenses, the MGB asks residents of the Republic to report such facts to the helpline and to the duty station,” said Alexander Basov.
