This was announced by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission for this referendum, Alexander Malykhin.
At a briefing in Lugansk, Malykhin said that in general it was possible to open 80% of polling stations, but it was not possible to open polling stations in the northern districts of the region: Svatovsky, Melovsky, Belokurakinsky and Troitsky.
In the north of the Lugansk region, attempts by units of the National Guard of Ukraine to prevent the expression of the will of local residents were noted.
“In Svatovo, the National Guard does not allow a car with ballots to pass, and in Troitsk an armored personnel carrier blocked the road and also does not allow our cars to pass. Our cars with guards are trying to break through so that people can vote,” the press center of the headquarters of the “United Army of the South-East” reported.
As Vasily Nikitin, head of the press center of the United Army of the South-East, noted, there is information about the movement of several armored personnel carriers of Ukrainian security forces to the city of Shchastya (25 km from Lugansk).
Let us remind you that today referendums on regional self-determination are being held in the Lugansk and Donetsk regions. The Central Election Commissions note a very high voter turnout.
