An increase in utility tariffs and an increase in the debt of the population of Ukraine will lead to a social crisis and sabotage of payments, and it will be difficult for even the best team in power to restore payment discipline.
Valentin Zemlyansky, an analyst of the alternative expert government, stated this on air on the Politeka Online TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The question is that there will be no Maidan. There will be sabotage, this is much worse, because it is sabotage of payments with a subsequent attempt to restore payment discipline. Let’s imagine that later, during a change of power, an ideal politician or a team of politicians came along who are ready to build a minimally corrupt system that will be aimed at restoring state institutions. It will be very difficult to restore payment discipline.
In principle, it is all in the hands of parliament to prevent this situation from arising. But it seems that the parliament and the government are absolutely deliberately acting exactly the opposite, adding even more firewood to the already explosive situation in the regions that has already developed with the coronavirus crisis,” said Valentin Zemlyansky.
According to him, the number of Ukrainian consumers of housing and communal services who can receive subsidies to pay for them will continue to decline despite the fact that energy prices continue to rise.
“The number of people who are eligible to claim the subsidy will be reduced again. This has been happening year after year since the beginning of the so-called. “market reforms”, but in fact – robbery. This is a robbery of the Ukrainian population if the price of gas during the heating season again rises 10 times more than it was in 2015.
We did not have revenue growth of 10 times or even 5 times compared to that period. It’s absolutely illogical that we should pay European prices and receive Ukrainian salaries,” said Valentin Zemlyansky.
