This is stated in a message from the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Donetsk region, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At about 11:00, the Kalmius police department of Mariupol received a message that a ceiling collapse had occurred on the territory of the enterprise. There is information about 4 injured workers,” the message says.
As noted, an investigative and operational group of law enforcement officers was sent to the scene. In addition, it is reported that as of 12:30 it became known that as a result of the accident, three workers (2 men and a woman) were killed, and another was injured.
According to local publication 0629, the accident occurred at the Mariupol Iron and Steel Works named after Ilyich. It is noted that the Metinvest press service reported that contractors were carrying out repair work in one of the workshop buildings. During the work, the ceiling collapsed, three men fell down, and were covered with concrete slabs from above.
“As a result of the accident, all three received injuries incompatible with life and died instantly. Another worker was injured - his arm was broken. A commission is now being formed to investigate this incident,” the statement says.
