According to the investigation, as noted in the Unified State Register of Judicial Decisions, the traffic cop was accused of numerous episodes of assisting “DPR terrorists by reporting information on a mobile phone about the movement and deployment of forces and assets of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donetsk region.
The law enforcement officer himself explained during the court hearing that after his appointment to the post of head of the Volnovakha traffic police in May 2015, an unknown person called him, introduced himself as a DPR militia and demanded that the traffic cop transmit information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine by phone, threatening his family.
The policeman followed the instructions and reported this to the SBU. The next day, he met with an employee of this department, who told the traffic cop to convey publicly known information to the militia, and they would monitor telephone conversations and location.
Everything went according to plan, until a few months later the high-ranking traffic cop got tired of these “spy games” and he went to the SBU department to tell his supervisor that he would no longer do this. He was given an appointment for the next day in the office of the deputy head of the SBU. Arriving at the meeting, he received a blow to the back of the head and saw people in camouflage who began to kick him. As a result, all of his cooperation with the SBU was interpreted by them as aiding terrorists and resulted in a court conviction of 4,5 years in prison.
