This is stated in a statement from the press service of the National Guard.
“Now NSU forces have been withdrawn from the epicenter of events, so as not to provoke even greater aggression by activists and for the safety of peaceful Mariupol residents,” the department said.
“During yesterday’s clashes near the city police headquarters, one serviceman was killed and 4 more received gunshot wounds. In addition, last night activists set fire to the Mariupol city administration. The actions of the attackers are primarily aimed at disrupting the presidential elections in the state,” the National Guard believes.
“The command of the National Guard of Ukraine and its personnel are doing everything possible to stabilize the situation in the city,” the department emphasizes.
The press service did not provide official information about where the fighters are now. However, eyewitnesses show photos from the airport on social networks, which show armed people and armored vehicles.
As Navigator reported, yesterday in Mariupol there was a shootout near the city department building, which subsequently burned down. The fire also damaged the City Hall, near which rioters erected barricades.
