Mariupol, May 08 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – In Mariupol, the flag of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” was again hung over the city council building.

At about 18:00, supporters of the referendum protesting under the building tried to storm the City Council. The police fired several machine-gun bursts into the air, and the activists fled, the publication “0629” reports.
Let us remind you that yesterday the security forces took control of the building in the morning, but by lunchtime the flags of the Russian Federation and the DPR were flying on it. Today the situation repeated itself. Internal troops and law enforcement officers cordoned off the City Council and did not allow protesters to approach it.
However, at about 18:30, soldiers of the Dnepr special battalion boarded the bus. At 18:40, the flag of the “Donetsk People’s Republic” was again installed over the city council building.
On social networks, supporters of the referendum are urged not to take risks and to focus specifically on the referendum, which, according to a number of activists, is not related to the City Council building.
The situation in the city is quite tense: there is an unprecedented rush in grocery stores, although, according to sellers, there is no reason for this.
The stele at the entrance to the city is now painted in the colors of the national flag of Ukraine.
