The police took part in the special operation together with the internal troops of Ukraine. They have cordoned off the city center and are not allowing anyone into the area of active operations. The city administration does not know how residents get there, reports the publication “0629”.
According to information at 09.30, the perimeter of the ATO is still cordoned off by police. The protection of order in the special operation zone will be ensured until further notice, the police say.
On his Facebook page, deputy Oleg Lyashko reported that ATO forces took two DPR strongholds and are now clearing the streets. In addition, according to his statement, the barricades should have been cleared.
Calls began to appear on social networks for city residents to go out to protests and prevent the ATO, although denials appeared in online media: officially the parties called on city residents to stay home and not put their lives in danger.
DPR supporters are actively discussing the reliability of information that the military commandant of Mariupol Andrei Borisov left the city last night. At the same time, local residents say that at the moment there is relative calm in the city, but they are discussing how to leave Mariupol as quickly as possible, whether the city is cordoned off, and whether vehicles are being allowed through at checkpoints.
As Navigator reported, on the night from Thursday to Friday, National Guard forces attacked the DPR headquarters in Mariupol, cordoning off the city center. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Arsen Avakov, announced the success of the operation against pro-Russian rebels.
