According to unconfirmed information, the armored reconnaissance and patrol vehicle was set on fire by the residents themselves, who pelted it with Molotov cocktails, reports 0629.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Lyashko traditionally commented on the situation on his Facebook page: “Unrest continues under the Mariupol City Council. The saboteurs drove a BRDM seized from the Ukrainian military to the partially burned building. But the BRDM jammed. The “Vatniks” didn’t think of anything better than... setting it on fire. Now the burning BRDM itself is firing ammunition on the territory of the pro-Russian rally.”
Local media also report acts of looting. In particular, not only weapons stores and household appliance stores were robbed, but also a military unit. At about 15:00, a group of unknown people stole an armored personnel carrier, which was located on the territory of a military unit on Nakhimov Avenue. Let us remind you that yesterday the military left the military unit in a hurry. They packed up very quickly and even left some personal belongings behind.
After this, unknown persons entered the unit’s territory, took out boxes, presumably containing weapons or ammunition, and loaded them into cars. Some ate the stew right on the go. “Some of them were robbed. Not completely, but a minimum number of guns, bulletproof vests, etc. were taken out,” local residents say.
Local residents also report that today unknown persons tried to burn down an office center built by Alexander Taruta, the brother of Donetsk governor Sergei Taruta. Glass in the building was broken and fragments of Molotov cocktails were visible, eyewitnesses say.
As Navigator reported, today a day of mourning has been declared in Mariupol. Yesterday, during a shootout near the city police department, according to official data, 7 people were killed and 39 were injured.
