Russian journalist seriously wounded in Mariupol

Mariupol, May 09 (Navigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – In Mariupol, during a confrontation between security forces and city residents, a freelance employee of the Russian TV channel “Russia Today” was wounded.

“Our freelancer was injured during filming in Mariupol. Wounded in the stomach, although, according to doctors, he was wearing a bulletproof vest. Now he is in the hospital,” the channel’s editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan said in her microblog.

According to eyewitnesses, Mariupol residents helped the journalist get out from under fire, picking him up by the arms and actually carrying him to a safe place.

As reported by the press service of the Donetsk Regional State Administration with reference to the Department of Health, today during the anti-terrorist operation in Mariupol, seven people were killed, another 39 were injured and taken to medical institutions in the city.

At the same time, social networks talk about 21 dead and 33 wounded.
