Pickets against “surrender” and Akhmetov awaited Zelensky in Mariupol
In Mariupol, local activists took advantage of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky's visit to an investment forum to demonstrate their position.
As reported by dn.depo and 0629, the Ukrainian leader was expecting several different pickets mixed with outright trolling, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
So, on Mira Avenue they hung banners with the inscription “I am 42 years old. I’m not a sucker,” with a hint of Zelensky’s recent conversation with Azov militants in Zolote. There were also opponents of the so-called surrender and withdrawal of troops, who stretched out a banner with the inscription “After the withdrawal, hail will fly here.”
Also, a group of people stood with posters “Akhmetov is a killer,” raising the topic of the Mariupol ecology “killed” by Metinvest. There were activists who opposed the sale of land. Others rallied for the legalization of medical cannabis. Some posters had several demands at once. Employees of Azovmash, which was closed back in 2015, were also seen demanding payment of salary arrears with posters reading “Zelensky, help us.”
At the same time, in the city center, roads were blocked on all sides, part of the theater square was surrounded by a fence, and National Guardsmen with dogs were sent to guard the area.
In addition, they were waiting for the Ukrainian president at the entrance to the drama theater, where the main location of the investment forum is located, where caring citizens were not too lazy to bring a pink coffin with the inscription “Ecology”. There were also posters “Save FOP” and “I AM FOP, NOT A SUCKER.”
However, Vladimir Zelensky did not meet with the protesters, entering the room where the forum was taking place from the back door.
