The Crimean Tatar oligarch, owner of the ATR channel Lenur Islyamov stated this in an interview with the Kyiv magazine “New Time”, answering the question why the Crimean Tatars were talking about the trade blockade and only now.
“This is the least that Ukraine could do to indicate its position regarding the occupation of Crimea,” says Islyamov. – A year and a half has passed, and there are no decisive actions; moreover, the pressure on the Crimean Tatars in Crimea is only increasing, people are illegally imprisoned, and are dying at the hands of unknown people. That’s why it’s so important for the Mejlis to cement Ukraine in the fight for Crimea, to unite ordinary people so that the Ukrainian authorities have to deal with this issue.”
The publication’s interlocutor also claims that Ukrainian officials are allegedly involved in smuggling supplies to the territory of Crimea.
“And Russia has an additional benefit in that such propaganda corrupts Ukrainian politicians,” the millionaire believes. “Russia has them on a money hook, and they are already starting to think, why should Crimea be returned?”
At the same time, Islyamov refused to name the names of the Ukrainian officials-smugglers, specifying only that “these are politicians of a very high level.”
