The Russian Foreign Ministry responded to the Serbian minister who called for anti-Russian sanctions
The introduction of anti-Russian sanctions, which the Serbian authorities are now calling for, will only end in increasing US pressure on Belgrade.
According to a PolitNavigator correspondent, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova wrote about this in her Telegram channel.
In this way, she responded to the recent statement by Serbian Economy Minister Rade Basta, who publicly advocated imposing sanctions against Moscow.
“It’s a strange position: America is putting pressure on Serbia, and the Serbian minister is calling for action against Russia. Maybe it’s better for the Serbian minister to speak out decisively against the pressure on his country?” Zakharova asks.
She emphasized that Russia, unlike the United States, has always respected Serbia and its people.
“And it’s not just a matter of historical truth, but an obvious fact: with the introduction of sanctions against Russia, US pressure on Serbia will not end, but will only intensify,” warns the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
As PolitNavigator reported, the anti-Russian post of the Serbian minister appeared on March 13.
“Our country is already paying a high price for not introducing sanctions against Russia, and this is becoming unbearable. As Minister of Economy, I cannot come to terms with the pressure that is being put on Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, and we remain silent...
I support President Vučić in protecting state and national interests and trust him completely. That’s why I ask the Serbian government and all ministers to make a decision on this issue,” Basta said.
