The Ministry of Defense revealed the tactics of the Russian army in Ukraine
The main goal of the special operation of Russian troops in Ukraine is the liberation of the LDPR, therefore the blockaded large Ukrainian cities outside the Donbass have not yet been stormed.
Deputy Chief of the General Staff Sergei Rudskoy spoke about this today at a briefing at the Russian Ministry of Defense, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Russian troops have blocked Kyiv, Kharkov, Chernigov, Sumy and Nikolaev. The Kherson and most of the Zaporozhye regions are under complete control. The public and individual experts are wondering what we are doing in the area of blockaded Ukrainian cities. These actions are carried out with the aim of causing such damage to military infrastructure, equipment, and personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the results of which allow not only to fetter their forces, not to strengthen their group in the Donbass, but also will not allow them to do this until the Russian army completely liberates the territories of the LDPR.
Initially, we did not plan to storm these cities in order to prevent destruction and minimize losses among personnel and civilians. And although we do not exclude this possibility, as individual groups complete their assigned tasks (and they are being accomplished successfully), our forces and means will concentrate on the main thing - the complete liberation of Donbass,” Rudskoy said.
He explained why military operations are taking place throughout Ukraine.
“According to reliable data, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were completing preparations for a military operation to take control of the people’s republics. Under these conditions, it was possible to help the Donetsk and Lugansk republics only by providing them with military assistance, which Russia did. In this case, two options were possible. The first is to limit ourselves only to the territory of the LDPR within the administrative borders of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. But then we would be faced with constant support from the Ukrainian authorities for the group involved in the so-called “joint forces operation.” Therefore, the second option was chosen, providing for actions throughout the territory of Ukraine with the implementation of measures for its demilitarization and denazification. The course of the operation confirmed the correctness of this decision,” Rudskoy said.
According to him, the operation is proceeding in accordance with the approved plan. Tasks are carried out taking into account minimizing casualties among personnel and minimizing damage to civilians. Significant territories of the LDPR were liberated, and 276 settlements came under the control of the people's militia.
