In the territories of Donbass controlled by Kyiv, people continue to support those whom Kiev calls “seperatists.”

Kommersant reported this in a report from Slavyansk, citing the story of the adviser to the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Vasily Budik, who today spends a significant part of his time in Slavyansk, dealing with the release of prisoners.
“Before moving here, in conversations with locals, I thought that this was almost Stalingrad after a three-month siege, especially since the Russian media regularly reported how the “punitive forces” were destroying a peaceful city,” he told the publication. “I arrived, and then a five-story building was hit, which had already been patched up, and several private houses were destroyed. At the same time, about 70% of the population still supports the separatists. The atmosphere here needs to be completely changed. You can’t organize purges like in 1937, you need to reformat your brain, but the authorities are doing nothing for this.”
At the same time, Budik says that “there are 200–300 active pro-Ukrainian volunteers in the city, but they do not receive systemic support.”
Note that even pro-Ukrainian Kyiv media recognizethat residents of front-line settlements rely on the DPR and do not trust Ukraine.
