As Navigator reported, on July 18, a message about the unblocking of Lugansk airport appeared on the official website of the President of Ukraine. However, the military at Lugansk airport today reported that this is not true.
According to the Ostrov publication, yesterday the military attempted to link up with a column of Ukrainian troops to break the blockade, but they were ambushed, suffered losses and were forced to retreat to their previous positions.
According to the military, they now have four killed and more than 15 wounded, including seriously wounded people in need of surgery. However, there is no way to take them out.
Military doctors provide first aid to the wounded, however, lacking equipment, they cannot perform operations on the spot. Some of the medicines are running out, including antibiotics and other urgently needed supplies.
In addition, the military is running out of food. They are forced to save money, especially water, since they need to make forays to get drinking water, and this is extremely dangerous. The military reports that they are regularly shelled and their equipment is damaged.
“We can’t cope on our own, we need help. But aviation doesn’t work... If we still try to do reconnaissance, there will be no one to save here,” the military says.
As Navigator reported, protests by relatives of military personnel took place in Kyiv and Lvov. They demanded that those blocked in Izvarine, Marynivka, and near Lugansk receive assistance.
