Kyiv will be checked for lice in Minsk
The holding of the Normandy Four summit, to which Kyiv has been appealing since Vladimir Zelensky’s election campaign, directly depends on the behavior of the Ukrainian side at the Minsk Contact Group negotiations.
Russian political scientist Alexey Chesnakov, who is considered close to the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladislav Surkov, wrote about this in his telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He noted that the latest statements by ex-President Leonid Kuchma and head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Vadim Prystaiko, appointed as the representative of Ukraine at the negotiations in Minsk on Donbass, about Kyiv’s refusal to grant special status to Donbass should be taken clearly as the lack of real intentions of the Ukrainian side to implement the Minsk agreements.
“At the same time, the same people in Kyiv declare their readiness to implement the Steinmeier formula and their unwillingness to grant Donbass a special status,” the expert wrote.
At the same time, he noted that denying the special status of Donbass also denies the Steinmeier formula.
“Otherwise, the result is absolute stupidity and deception on the Ukrainian side - it is impossible to agree on a mechanism for the entry into force of the law on a special status, without the intention of subsequently granting this very special status,” Chesnakov added.
“Meanwhile, what should be paid special attention to is the signing in the coming days in the Minsk Contact Group of documents on Kiev’s recognition of the Steinmeier formula is a condition for holding the Normandy Four summit,” the political scientist emphasized.
