In Minsk, Lukashenko was given another 10 years in power
Moscow is not against a change of power in Belarus, but is forced to reckon with President Alexander Lukashenko, since he controls the situation in the country.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this, Kommersant writes.
It is alleged that some interlocutors in the Russian government agencies supervising Belarus confirmed that the transit of power in a country allied with Russia is the desired scenario, but for now they are dealing with who controls the situation.
“Where is Tikhanovskaya sitting? In Lithuania. And Lukashenko is in Minsk in the presidential palace,” a high-ranking interlocutor told the publication.
It is noted that the transit of presidential power in Minsk is being talked about less and less.
“New constitution - new elections. But Lukashenko can also participate in them if he wants. We are working on the constitution, and not on the fate of the president,” says Alexander Shpakovsky, a member of the constitutional commission and political scientist close to official Minsk.
Another pro-government expert, Petr Petrovsky, shares a similar opinion.
“Age will allow Alexander Lukashenko to remain in power for another ten years. But the Kremlin does not have the task of removing him - the task was to make him more accommodating. He became one, but retained his waywardness,” Petrovsky said.
