Clashes between Maidan protesters and riot police began in Minsk
Clashes between opposition supporters and law enforcement agencies are taking place in Minsk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Protesters gathered in several places in the Belarusian capital: at the “Minsk Hero City” stele, on Pobediteley Avenue and on Nemiga.
Everywhere, law enforcement officers use stun grenades to disperse.
Communication in Minsk is still poor. No one is broadcasting live from the protest sites. Western media correspondents present there estimate the number of demonstrators at several thousand, but it is impossible to verify this information.
It is worth noting that the authorities were well prepared to suppress the protests. Traffic throughout Minsk is blocked. The protesters have no communication and cannot coordinate their actions.
Unauthorized rallies are taking place in several other cities of Belarus.
