The main reason for the drop in the rating of the Ukrainian army was the losses associated with the loss of Crimea and part of Donbass.
According to the rating, before the war there were 4 tanks in service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and after it – 112.
However, in terms of the number of tanks, Ukraine still ranks 11th in the world.
The situation in aviation is much worse: since the beginning of the events in Crimea, the number of military aircraft has decreased from about 400 units to 222.
Most of the “lost” ships remained in Crimea, and about 20 of them were shot down over the Donbass.
In terms of the number of military aviation, Ukraine is in 45th place in the world.
Despite the record increase in the defense budget in the international ranking, Ukraine failed to rise above 40th place in this indicator.
The reason for this was the devaluation of the hryvnia, which “ate up” the growth of the defense budget: the budget of the Ministry of Defense in 2015 was at the same level as in 2014 – $4,9 billion.
